North America’s professional baseball league MLB or Major League Baseball is the governing body for both the National League and the American League.

The National League existed since 1876 but in the year 2000 the two leagues parted ways, and presently MLB now manages the single league of the US.

The MLB consists of 30 teams out of which 29 belong to America and one team is from Canada. The present day Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are the two major league franchises that originated during National Association of Baseball in the 1870’s

The Major League Baseball operates the Word Baseball Classic in collaboration with International Baseball Federation. The Major League Baseball Constitution regulates the MLB.

The MLB uniforms are unique to look and are worn by the players, coaches and field managers and each uniform indicates the role of that person with different numbers, colors and logos.

The first baseball team to sport any uniform at all was New York Knickerbockers in the year 1849. The uniform included caps, eyeshades, headgears, cleats and stockings.

Bud Selig, the present Commissioner of Baseball directs MLB to hire umpiring crew, manages marketing and media contracts. The present media partners of MLB are Fox, ESPN and TBS.

Baseball still stinks with the use of steroids by players. As of the year 2009, MLB enacted a strict policy on steroid use by the athletes. According to the policy, there will be drug testing conducted randomly on players and following will be the punishments for infractions of steroid rules:

First offence will result in suspension of up to 10 days without pay
Second offence will result in a ban for 30 days (without pay)
Third positive offence will result in a 60 day ban from playing (without pay)
Four infractions will result in 1-year ban from playing the sport.

The Champions League is headed towards the first Knock Out stage and form there on the top eight teams will fight it out in the quarter Finals and for winner from this stage will march to semi finals and from there on the two winning teams will lead to the finals, which is scheduled on the 22nd of May 2010 at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

And as far as the predictions for the UEFA Champions League winner go, it is rather a tough call to make.

Considering the first knock out stage eight groups has winner and a runner up each that have qualified from the group stage.

Bordeaux from Group A looks a clear contender to win the League this; it has got 16 points to its credit and that too without losing a single match so far. Fiorentina from Group E has 15 points and it is equally looking to be a dangerous opponent. Chelsea from Group D has secured 14 points and it seems that the team is a strong contender to win the league.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona and Sevilla are also in the contest and have fair chance of winning the title but the league has still many stages to go before the ultimate finals and it is premature to predict the winner at this stage.

Baseball Hall of Fame voting was announced and it did surprise the world. Although Andre Dawson deserves to get the honor of ultimate Baseball fame, he happened to be the only person to get 75% of the voting by members of Baseball Writers Association of America.

Called the Hall of Fame voting; the 2010 Baseball Hall of Fame voting quite disappointed fans as only one among 26 baseball players who were present on the ballot could go to Cooperstown. Andre Dawson was the player who survived this. Dawson had a fine career with 8 years of playing to have made it to the Hall of Fame voting.

Dawson will be joining Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey who were voted to the Baseball Hall of Fame during December 2009 by Veterans Committee of baseball.

Robert Alomar not making it to the Hall of Fame was the shock actually of the 2010 voting. Out of 539 votes a player should get 420 (which is a 75% support by members) to make it. In 2010, Andre Dawson could get 77.9% of the membership votes. Sadly, Bert Blyleven narrowly fell short of the support votes and he stood second with Roberto Alomar coming in at third with 73.7% of support.

Rumors are rife that the ballot has been rigged to push in some people into the 2010 Baseball Hall of Fame Baseball. The steroid scandals sadly pushed only Dawson to make it to the list and hopefully MLB will deal with the steroid issue seriously to promote ethics and morally boost the ethical players to make into the Hall of Fame.

The Fighting Irish are 4-1 but aren’t ranked in any major poll. The only winning team they’ve played, Michigan, they were able to beat on a touchdown, while their last three victories have come on the final minute.
Is this team any good, or does it just play to the level of its competition?
If you look at some of the other teams that are playing and look at how their games have gone, you will see that they can go right up to the top ten and work right on down.
What team has never had troubles in their schedule? Almost everybody has.

The Fighting Irish have had one loss by four points on the road with eleven seconds to go in the game. Looking at the flip side of it, only eleven seconds away from being undefeated right now, puts them right with everybody else.

Notre Dame will get its chance at victory in its next game, when USC comes to South Bend on the seventeenth of October. For now, they would be healing injuries, followed by a long weekend break so players can go home. All things considered, a lot of improvement has to be done before the Irish can even hope to knock off the Trojans, which should tackling in the list of items they need to develop.

Honestly, did anyone have doubts that Clausen would lead a touchdown drive on Saturday against Washington when Notre Dame got the ball back with a little under three minutes left?

While you could argue that games against Michigan State, Purdue and Washington didn’t need to go down to the final play, the team found a way to win those in the end. That’s the biggest difference between this year and last year, when Notre Dame also started 4-1. Nothing defined the season more than Saturday’s three goal-line stands, in which the defense allowed just three total points.

If they keep playing games like these, however, the Irish may cause a lot of heart attacks. After all, with coaches who are a bit older, these several blood-pumping final moments may be more distressing.

The Montreal Canadiens won over the Toronto Maple Leafs during their opening game with a score of 4-3 at the third period on Thursday night.
The victory of the Canadiens during the opener was defined to be because of the standout performance of their goalie Carey Price who blocked 43 shots of the Leafs.
Montreal was off the play during the start but was able to recover towards the end of the game. They were even outranked in the first period. They found out a way out of the trouble with the help of former teammate Mike Komisarek who was on the penalty box.
Josh Gorges, Canadiens defenseman, was overwhelmed with the performance of Price. He even said that the goalie’s action for the game was unbelievable. He also added that it was Price that saved them when the ball got out of their control. Gorges scored a goal for Montreal at 12.8 seconds during the overtime.
Forward Mike Cammalleri also commended Price for the performance that he did. He even told the goalie that the rest of the team did better in the game because of and for him. He further said that it was Price that made them won the game.
Travis Moen and Brian Gionta each scored a point for Montreal during the play. The forward for the fourth-line of Montreal, Glen Metropolit, scored a goal during the end part of the third period which brought the score into a tie. He charged the ball from Gorges’ pass right through the defense Vesa Toskala at 15:50 during the third period.
Gorges found his score a good start for the season since- according to him, he does not usually score many goals. The recent goal of Gorges was his sixth in his 247 career games in the NHL.
Matt Stajan and Alexei Panikarovsky scored the three goals for Toronto.
Komisarek mentioned that Leafs are the better team during the game but fell short in the middle. He even added that they missed two points during that time but they will find a way to get those two points back some other time.

The much awaited 2009 season for the National Football league was one of the major events in the football league. Unfortunately for the Philadelphia Eagles team line-up, Stewart Bradley will not be expected to be part of their strong roster because of a scheduled treatment, operation and rehabilitation of his torn ACL. Stewart Bradley’s accident was unexpected and the temporary bump on the Philadelphia Eagles’ team will surely have a negative affect but will also put more challenge on them most especially on their other key players.
The temporary loss of Stewart Bradley will definitely weaken their defense, according to most of their loyal fans. The middle-linebacker sustained an injury in a scuffle during the august 1 game. At first, fans and teammates reported a minor injury after seeing Stewart Bradley walked off the field almost effortlessly but later, medical records from a Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI test revealed a much more serious injury, which was a torn ACL, a common injury not only to NFL players but with almost all high impact games.
The said accident happened during a scrimmage but the Philadelphia Eagle’s coach did not confirm any details and any information regarding Stewart Bradley’s accident. The temporary lose will surely impact the Philadelphia Eagles’ games this 2009 season most likely because their roster of linebackers is not that well established yet.
Stewart Bradley, from Nebraska, was drafted in its 3rd year as a pro NFL player and was placed as a middle linebacker together with Joe Mays, a star from North Dakota State and was drafted in the sixth round during the 2008 drafting season.
Stewart Bradley’s injury was serious as confirmed by the doctor. His career this 2009 National Football League this season will surely be missed and the Philadelphia Eagles’ team is really up to a great challenge.

Just in front of a large crowd of spectators in the Citizens Bank Park, the Florida Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies down to the last seconds of their match-up which ended with the Marlins having a 9 point lead against the Phils with a score of 12-3.
The Florida Marlins’ outstanding victory against that Philadelphia Phils made a very strong impression for the team most especially on their 3 game winning-sweeps.
It was one of the most outstanding game performances of the Florida Marlins, as the tickets were sold out and the Marlins team did a spectacular game with a tremendous amount of aggressiveness, perseverance, dedication and hard work. According to baseball veteran We Helms, the win against the Philadelphia Phils made a very strong impact in their career and in the season. The match served as somewhat a turning point to their MLB history most especially because of the sweep. Wes Helms contributed to brilliant home-runners aside from other magnificent throws and bats.
The game was very tense and the Citizens Bank Park was filled with a lot of emotions not only of the fans and the spectators and fans but also, high emotions were very high on the players. Home umpire ejected one of the Philadelphia’s key men and center fielder, Shane Victorino. Hanley Ramirez and Chris Coghlan made their parts in hitting a lot of innings and scoring RBI’s to further seal the win of the Florida Marlins. According to game analysts, the 19 innings that the Florida Marlins executed was more than their season high which is 18 innings, a proof of their spectacular performance during the game.
The 3 game winning streaks by the Florida Marlins during their game against the Philadelphia Phils was a proof that home based game advantages sometimes are not what they are ought to be.

Dean Blais wishes to have the perfect National team for US. He is the coach of the US for the 2010 World Junior Championship and he will be using a camp to choose the perfect team to fight for US. He already spent a week keeping a close watch on the 43 best junior-age players when they show off what they have to show on and off the ice.
According to Blais, interviews will be done before starting the camp. Camp runs from August 7th to the 15th and the players chosen for the camp are given questionnaires. The individual stats may say who is fit to be on the team, however, the question of will they jive as a team? Will each of these players be able to play with each other as a team? Will they be able to do little thongs to let the team win?
Team chemistry is what matters most in building a team. This is also a tough thing to do when they are at the same time looking out for themselves. The first thing that these players must do is look out for themselves first as it will be crucial on the first cut on Sunday.
Three days of practice will be followed by a game against Russia. This will test whether the team has that perfect chemistry if players work well with each other. There are already three players who are eligible for the 2010 draft and this may include defenseman Cam Fowler. This player will play with Windsor Spitfire, Ontario’s Hockey League. According to Blais he is a special player and he is seen to be in the top of the draft. Players of his likes are the players that Blais is looking for them to find the right fix.
