Major League Baseball

North America’s professional baseball league MLB or Major League Baseball is the governing body for both the National League and the American League.
The National League existed since 1876 but in the year 2000 the two leagues parted ways, and presently MLB now manages the single league of the US.
The MLB consists of 30 teams out of which 29 belong to America and one team is from Canada. The present day Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are the two major league franchises that originated during National Association of Baseball in the 1870’s
The Major League Baseball operates the Word Baseball Classic in collaboration with International Baseball Federation. The Major League Baseball Constitution regulates the MLB.
The MLB uniforms are unique to look and are worn by the players, coaches and field managers and each uniform indicates the role of that person with different numbers, colors and logos.
The first baseball team to sport any uniform at all was New York Knickerbockers in the year 1849. The uniform included caps, eyeshades, headgears, cleats and stockings.
Bud Selig, the present Commissioner of Baseball directs MLB to hire umpiring crew, manages marketing and media contracts. The present media partners of MLB are Fox, ESPN and TBS.
Baseball still stinks with the use of steroids by players. As of the year 2009, MLB enacted a strict policy on steroid use by the athletes. According to the policy, there will be drug testing conducted randomly on players and following will be the punishments for infractions of steroid rules:
First offence will result in suspension of up to 10 days without pay
Second offence will result in a ban for 30 days (without pay)
Third positive offence will result in a 60 day ban from playing (without pay)
Four infractions will result in 1-year ban from playing the sport.
Predictions of Champions League
by Kurtis on Jan.28, 2010, under Sport News
The Champions League is headed towards the first Knock Out stage and form there on the top eight teams will fight it out in the quarter Finals and for winner from this stage will march to semi finals and from there on the two winning teams will lead to the finals, which is scheduled on the 22nd of May 2010 at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
And as far as the predictions for the UEFA Champions League winner go, it is rather a tough call to make.
Considering the first knock out stage eight groups has winner and a runner up each that have qualified from the group stage.
Bordeaux from Group A looks a clear contender to win the League this; it has got 16 points to its credit and that too without losing a single match so far. Fiorentina from Group E has 15 points and it is equally looking to be a dangerous opponent. Chelsea from Group D has secured 14 points and it seems that the team is a strong contender to win the league.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona and Sevilla are also in the contest and have fair chance of winning the title but the league has still many stages to go before the ultimate finals and it is premature to predict the winner at this stage.
